* WHAT...Heat index values up to 102 expected.

* WHERE...In Delaware, New Castle County. In New Jersey, Mercer,
  Camden, Gloucester, Northwestern Burlington, and Salem Counties.
  In Pennsylvania, Delaware, Eastern Montgomery, Lower Bucks, and
  Philadelphia Counties.

* WHEN...From 10 AM to 8 PM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH
THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents expected.

* WHERE...Kings (Brooklyn), Southern Queens and Southern Nassau
  Counties.

* WHEN...From noon EDT today through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all
  people entering the surf zone. Anyone visiting the beaches
  should stay out of the surf. Rip currents can sweep even the
  best swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is a chance for thunderstorms in the
  evening.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you enter the surf zone, always have a flotation device with
you and swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax
and float, and do not swim against the current. If able, swim in
a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face
the shore and yell or wave for help.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwestern Connecticut,
western Massachusetts, east central and eastern New York and
southern Vermont.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

There is a chance for thunderstorms this afternoon into the evening
hours for areas south of the Capital Region.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

Thunderstorms are possible late Friday into Friday night and again on
Saturday. Any thunderstorm will be capable of producing heavy
downpours, which may cause ponding of water in urban or low lying
areas.

Heat index values may be close to advisory criteria on both Friday
and Saturday within the Capital Region and mid Hudson Valley. If
confidence increases, a Heat Advisory could be needed.

More thunderstorms are possible on Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly
during the afternoon and evening hours.
