Record high temperatures forecast for Albuquerque today and then for Roswell tomorrow. Temperatures drop a few of degrees on Wednesday throughout the state but then rise to near triple digits for many areas on Thursday and Friday.
A Heat Advisory is in effect today from noon until 7 PM MDT for the middle and lower Rio Grande Valley, the Chaves County Plains, and the San Francisco River Valley, including Albuquerque, Socorro, Glenwood, and Roswell.
Extreme Heat Watch for the southeast plains including Roswell from noon to 7 PM MDT on Tuesday. Moderate to Major HeatRisk.
Temperatures will warm above normal for the entire region through early next week. Highs in the mid 90s to low 100s will be common in many lower elevation areas. Areas around Roswell may reach up to 110 degrees by Tuesday.
The greatest fire weather concerns will be over west central and southwest areas, where fuels are driest.
The thunderstorm threat matrix indicates the probability of thunderstorms over wildfire burn areas.
