Above normal temperatures will continue early this week but will get even worse late week as a very strong high pressure system moves into the region. Lower desert high temperatures by Thursday or Friday will approach 115 degrees across south-central and southwest AZ and likely top 115 degrees across southeast CA.
An Excessive Heat Warning is currently in effect through Friday, July 5th across the Lower Colorado River Valley and portions of southeast CA as high temperatures will range between 112-117 degrees with overnight/early morning lows in the mid 80s to near 90 degrees.
Despite the HeatRisk category not being at the Major or Extreme level, the heat is still dangerous. Remember to keep practicing smart heat safety, such as drinking plenty of water and limiting your time outdoors.
