Temperatures are expected to reach dangerous levels across the San Joaquin Valley, West Side Hills, Sierra Foothills, Kern River Valley and Kern County Deserts over the next few days and through the week. Please keep in mind to stay hydrated and cool.
An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for the San Joaquin Valley, West Side Hills, Sierra Foothills, Kern River Valley and Kern County Deserts from Tuesday, July 2 at 11am through Tuesday, July 9th at 8am. Please keep in mind to stay hydrated and cool.
Elevated fire danger will be present across California this week due to widespread afternoon temperatures near 110 degrees, minimum relative humidity less than 20%, and dry fuel loads throughout the central valley. Take appropriate measures to mitigate the initiation and spread of grass fires, including foregoing the use of fireworks for the Fourth of July.
Warm air temperatures do not mean warm water temperatures. Cold water can very quickly remove heat from the body and lead to a loss of movement in the limbs. When heading into rivers and streams, always take precautions such as wearing a life vest, bringing a life preserver with you, and following all river/stream closures.
