Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Central U.S.; Excessive Heat Across the Western and Southern U.S.

Severe thunderstorms will be possible on Independence Day, mainly across parts of the Upper Mississippi Valley, Ozarks, and southern/central Plains. Excessive heat with possible record highs and warm overnight lows will continue to impact much of the West into next week. NWS Wakefield Office Tour Policy

 

Prior to submitting the tour request form below, please note the following tour policies:

  1. The tour request form, below, must be completed and forwarded to the National Weather Service in Wakefield.
  2. Scheduled office tours are weather dependent. The National Weather Service in Wakefield reserves the right to postpone tours at any time due to adverse weather. In the event a tour must be postponed, we will make every effort to provide adequate notice and schedule another date with you. 
  3. Tours will be scheduled during normal business hours (Monday through Friday), from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Typical tours average 30-45 minutes in length.
  4. Due to security protocols, all tours must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Unannounced "walk-in" tours can not be permitted.
  5. Due to building size, maximum tour group size is 15. Any larger groups will need to be split into separate, smaller groups.
  6. For school/youth groups, the minimum grade level is 5th grade.
  7. Upon receipt of this form, a representative from NWS Wakefield will contact you to finalize the plans for your tour.
  8. If anyone in your group has special needs, please contact us ahead of time so that we may better accommodate them.
  9. No bags, packages, or purses are allowed to be carried into our building.
  10. Tours will also be cancelled if the national security threat level is elevated to the Severe (ORANGE) category. Tours will not be re-scheduled until the level falls below orange.
