Severe Thunderstorms Across the Central Plains; Hot Conditions in the Southern Plains and Lower Mississippi Valley

Severe thunderstorms are expected mainly from Kansas into northern Missouri and into Iowa Tuesday. Damaging winds will be the most likely threat, with large hail possible. An Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) of severe thunderstorms is in effect. Systems and Facilities Division (SFD)

The Systems and Facilities Division (SFD) manages the operations and maintenance of the various systems and facilities which support the NWS Western Region weather enterprise. Examples include Doppler Radar (WSR-88D), Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS), NOAA Weather Radio (NWR), Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), local and wide area networks, buildings, grounds, and towers, just to name a few.
